After MP, UP & Punjab, Rajasthan Govt bans ‘Padmavati’

Insight Bureau:  Though the Supreme Court on Monday refused a plea seeking to ban the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s controversial historical epic ‘Padmavati’, the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh declared ban on  Padmavati across the states. Maharashtra is also mulling a ban on the movie if it “distorts” historical facts.

Earlier, makers Viacom 18 postponed the December 1 release after a series of violent protests and death threats by fringe groups.

Threats continued to pour in against the film’s lead actress Padukone and director Bhansali. Their security has been beefed up by the Mumbai police.
