Energy Magazine ‘RE Booster’ unveiled in Bhubaneswar

RE-BoosterBhuabaneswar, Oct 17: A quarterly magazine ‘RE Booster’ with a focus on Renewable Energy sector, was launched yesterday in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The magazine is published by Chandrasekhar Mishra and edited by Prasanna Mishra (Retd. IAS).

In order to disseminate the information of Renewable Energy industry, RE Booster, has conceptualized and inaugurated at CYSD Auditorium by Chief guest  A K Das, Member of Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commissioner, Editor Prasanna Kumar Mishra (Retd. IAS), and Guest of Honors D K Roy, Ex-Chairperson of OERC and BK Mishra, Ex-Members of OERC and Ex-Chairman of CESU.

RE Booster is a publication of Canyon Consultancy Pvt Ltd which has been working in the filed of Renewable Energy since 2011 in Odisha by serving companies like  SAIL-RSP, NALCO, IMFA, Aditya Birla Group, Hindustan Copper, NMDC, GRSE, National Fertilizer Ltd etc., across the country. Since 2012 Canyon Consultancy along with TiE Bhubaneswar Chapter has also been organizing Odisha Solar Conference with support from Government of Odisha and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, government of India to transfer all sorts of information to the public.

According to the publisher of the magazine, Chandrasekhar Mishra, there is a need of such specialized periodical which would go a long way in providing complete information and data regarding policy, regulations, orders, sectoral development, technological innovations and most importantly a one-to-one state wise comparison and growth of Renewable Energy Sector.

The main focus of the magazine  would be about RE application in semi-urban and rural areas which has been improving the livelihood of the people. Other focus areas would be Corporate RE initiatives under CSR to develop their periphery areas, time to time changes in the policy and regulations which would help the sector to grow, views and analysis of RE industry people etc.

The function was attended by guest from corporate, business houses, NGOs, media houses, technical institutions, Bi-lateral agencies etc. The valedictory vote of thanks was delivered by Swayam Prakash Baral, one of the Directors of Canyon Consultancy Pvt. Ltd.

In the backdrop of government of India’s Renewable Energy (RE) target of 1,75,000 MWs by 2022, all states of India are in the race of contributing their share to achieve this target. Odisha is not far behind with its recently announced RE Policy 2015 under the aegis of Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha Ltd.(GEDCOL). Till date Odisha has an installed/ to be capacity of 82 MWs of Solar (57 MWs installed and 25 MWs to be commissioned by FY 2015-16), more than 50 MWs of Small Hydro, and 20 MW of Biomass but yet to see any project in Wind  and Municipality Water to Energy segment.

The long coastline in North-Eastern Odisha, ample amount of Solar radiation in Western Odisha, Small streams in Southern Odisha offers a huge scope of Wind, Solar and Small Hydro  segment, respectively.
