Sri Lanka manage to draw Kolkata Test

Bhuvneshwar KumarInsight Bureau: The Kolkata Test was heading towards a tame draw after India asked Sri Lanka to get 231 from less than 30 overs. But, Indian bowlers put the Lankans on the mat, making them run for cover. The visitors finally managed to secure a draw.

Chasing a victory target of 231, Sri Lanka finished at 75/7. Niroshan Dickwella was the top scorer with 27.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 4 wickets, while Mohammed Shami took 2 wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was declared ‘Player of the Match’.

Earlier, skipper Virat Kohli hit his 18th Test hundred, as India declared their second innings at 352/8, setting a victory target of 231 for Sri Lanka.

For India, Lokesh Rahul (79), Shikhar Dhawan (94), Virat Kohli (104*) were the top scorers. For Sri Lanka, Suranga Lakmal and Dasun Shanaka took 3 wickets each.

India had scored just 172 in the first innings, while Sri Lanka replied with 294.
