“It has been our endeavour to promote and encourage young students to involve in higher research in the field of technology. We want to provide them the opportunity with Y-E-S awards so that they can fulfill their dreams,” said HMI India director Keita Muramatsu in a statement.
Instituted in India for the first time in 2008 by Honda Foundation, the Y-E-S award entails cash scholarship of $3,000 for each of the 14 students from eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT): Delhi, Bombay, Roorkee, Madras, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Guwahati and Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

The cumulative grade point average (CGPA), technical papers, essays and a one-on-one interview with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) director Shirish Garud encompassed the assessment for conferring the awards.
“So far we have awarded 112 such students in 9 years,” added Muramatsu in the statement. (IANS)
