Modi Government scores a Point with Neem Coated Urea

Neem Coated Urea is beneficial for crops, soils and farmers. It increased the crop yield. Trial of Neem Coated Urea began in 2003 and UPA Government implemented with a cap of 35%.

Modi Government took the daring step of allowing urea producers to produce neem coated area up to 100% of the production and making it mandatory to produce at least 75% of domestic urea as neem coated. In total, urea production in the country will increase by 20 lakh tonnes.

The new Urea Policy 2015 will help the government to save direct subsidy of Rs 2,618 crore and indirect savings of Rs 2,211 crore per year (total savings – Rs 4,829 cr) and also benefit the farmers to a great extent.
