Polls, US rate hike dents markets, BSE Sensex Closes Flat

Mumbai, Nov 3: Volatility prevailed in the Indian equity markets, as a barometer index provisionally closed flat on Tuesday. Choppy market conditions prevailed, as caution grew over Bihar election results, ongoing results season and heightened chances of a US rate hike.

Furthermore, the 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) provisionally closed flat. It slipped by 2.15 points or 0.03 percent at 8,048.70 points.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,660.71 points, provisionally closed at 26,543.56 points (at 3.30 p.m.) — down 15.59 points or 0.06 percent from the previous day’s close at 26,559.15 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 26,732.24 points and a low of 26,514.48 points during the intra-day trade.
