7.4 Magnitude Earthquake hits Nepal, Tremors in India

A powerful earthquake, measuring 7.4 on the Richter Scale, hit Nepal at around 12:38 PM IST. According to the USGS, epicentre of the quake was at a place on Nepal-China border, which is 22km SE of Zham, Tibet (China). The place falls in Nepal and is nearer to Kodari. The quake occurred 19 km deep into the earth.

Tremors were felt in India and Afghanistan. Delhi and North India along with Bihar and West Bengal jolted. There was panic all around. Other parts of the country such as Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, J&K, Gujarat, Punjab, Sikkim, Assam, Odisha, Jharkhand and some other states too felt tremors.

There have been no reports of damages or casualties. Further details are awaited. Some aftershocks were also reported from Nepal, Delhi, West Bengal etc.
