Krishna Chaudhary appointed Director General of ITBP

Krishna Chaudhary, Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, appointed as the new Director General (DG) of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) today. He is currently the Director General of Railway Protection Force. He has been appointed for two years.

He is 1979-batch Bihar cadre officer will replace Subhas Goswami, who retired on December 31, 2014. Prakash Mishra, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General, was given additional charge of ITBP Chief during January 1 to 30. Krishna Chaudhary will take charge as DG of ITBP.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police was raised on 24 October 1962. Initially, it was raised under the CRPF Act, 1949 however the Parliament in 1992 enacted the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force Act, 1992 and rules there under were framed in 1994.
