Key Highlights of his Media Briefing:
1. Lalit Modi cannot be termed as Offender or Fugitive unless he is declared so by the court of law. Can the TV channels say which court has announced him as a proclaimed offender or fugitive? He is staying in the UK under the immigration law. This is height of insensitivity by the media.
2. The Medical Foundation where his wife was operated upon, had sought her husband’s presence during surgery on emotional and physical account.
3. The Blue Corner notice is being used only to know about the whereabouts of a person, not to arrest anyone. The Interpol General Secretariat has never issued any notice against Lalit Modi. It was confirmed to him in a written communication. A section of media produced fabricated notice. The Interpol was not involved in this case. Only Indian agencies were hounding Lalit Modi.
4. Lalit Modi has been in touch with the Enforcement Directorate, Mumbai Poilce and all other concerned agencies.
5. Since he broke with late Sunanda Pushkar, he has been hounded.
6. Dawood Ibrahim and other gangsters linked to him, were targeting Lalit Modi and his family. It was confirmed by Indian intelligence agencies. Still, their security was withdrawn by then government.
7. The Government of India tried to create obstacles and even unlawfully revoked his passport. He was targeted by the entire UPA Government and other private people. UPA Ministers tried their best to scuttle the probe in the UK.
8. It has been a scam-free government in the last one year. That’s why this issue is being raised to defame the government. The opposition is hunting for a scam. I am not a BJP man. But, I feel proud of being an Indian under this government.
