Lawyers vandalise Kiran Bedi’s Office in Delhi

In a shocking development, over 1,000 lawyers in Delhi, launched an attack on BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi’s election campaign office in Krishna Nagar and vandalised it completely. At least 2-3 people were injured in the attack.

Kiran Bedi was not present at the office when the attack took place. She broke the news on Twitter, cut short her rallies and proceeded to the office immediately. The BJP, Congress and AAP have condemned the attack.

The lawyers, who are up in arms against Kiran Bedi ever since the BJP declared her as the CM candidate, have been demonstrating against her and burning her effigies for the last two weeks. However, nobody expected them to resort to violence.

The lawyers also shouted abusive slogans against Kiran Bedi and used slags, said the eye-witnesses. The lawyers are against Bedi over the lathicharge order issued against them at the Tis Hazari court premises in 1988 when she was the DCP (North). It was alleged that Bedi had handcuffed a lawyer against the rules and even said derogatory words against the Magistrate, who released him.

Several Bar Associations in Delhi have joined hands to form ‘Action Committee: All Bar Associations of Delhi’ and appealing the people not to vote for Kiran Bedi. They have termed her “Lathi-charge Bedi”.
