Addressing a public rally on the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev in Hussainiwala near Ferozpur in Punjab on Monday, Modi said the scheme will be a private public partnership (PPP) arrangement. The PM’s announcement is seen as a move to placate the farmers in the wake of growing opposition to land bill.
The Prime Minister also criticised unscientific agricultural practices being adopted by farmers in Punjab, saying that may have serious long-term repercussions on agricultural land and crop produce.
