PM Modi summons Delhi Top Cop over Church Attacks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke his silence over the recent attacks on Churches in Delhi, which dented the images of Indian government in the West. Modi summoned Delhi Police Commissioner SK Bassi today and asked him to prevent all such incidents and take strong action to bring the guilty into book.

The summons came in the wake of a theft case at Holy Child Auxilium School in Delhi’s Vasant Vihar last night. The TV channels first highlighted it as ‘Christian School attacked in Delhi’, which even prompted CM Designate Arvind Kejriwal to tweet and condemn the incident as an attack. Later, Principal of the School confirmed that it was a case of theft and Rs 12,000 was stolen from the school.

The attacks on five Churches in the last four months in Delhi, had damaged the BJP’s prospects in Delhi Polls. That also triggered insecurity among the Christian people in the national capital. It is believed some vested interests are launching these attacks as part of a bigger conspiracy to malign India’s rising reputation on the global platform and damage the country’s relations with the West.
