The 8th Century Kedarnath Shrine is located at an altitude of 3,581 meters above seal level. The shrine closes in October-November and reopens in April-May. The flash floods and landslide in 2013, had devastated the region and also claimed the lives of thousands of people. It took almost two years to build the road network and other infrastructure. The ‘Char Dham’ Yatra resumed this year. The Uttarakhand Government did a commendable job to bring things back to normal.
