Sangh Parivar calls off Conversion Events on Christmas

The Dharam Jagran Samiti (DJS), an RSS-affiliated outfit and Bajrang Dal have called off conversion events in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh and other parts on Christmas Day, after the proposed plans triggered a massive uproar across India and stalled the Parliament.

It is believed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not happy about the latest development. He believes that his government’s development agenda is being negated by such events and the opposition gets a chance to put the government on the mat. He asked his party MPs and sympathisers to focus on development and not on any agenda that disturbs peace and harmony.

The opposition parties continued to stall Rajya Sabha over the re-conversion or ‘Ghar Wapsi’ issue. They want the Prime Minister to be present in the Upper House to make a statement. Although the PM will be in Rajya Sabha today, but he may not make a statement on this issue, as demanded by the opposition. The government is looking for alternate routes to pass key legislation.
