Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ scheduled for release on January 22

Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movie, ‘Airlift’ is a true story based on the biggest ever human evacuation in the history of mankind. The movie is scheduled for release on 22nd January.

The film is directed by Raja Krishna Menon, and starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles. The film was shot in Ras al-Khaimah, United Arab Emirates and Rajasthan, India

Akshay playing the character of Ranjit Katyal, a Kuwait-based Indian businessman, who made all efforts to help the Indian Government airlift 1,70,000 Indians based in Kuwait from the war-torn country in 1990. The process lasted for 59 days. Later, the airlift operation made into the Guinness Book of World Records.

It happenned during then Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait. Katiyal played a key role to convince Saddam and Iraqi authorities to allow Indian aircrafts to join the rescue operations. He extended full cooperation to the Indian Government during the hours of crisis.
