However, in her paper to Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Samson citied corruption in Censor Board was the major reason for resigning. She denied that film getting clearance was not the reason for her stepping down. Supporting her move, the members of censor board were reportedly resigned on Saturday.
The controversy erupted after FCAT’s clearance to self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s film ‘MSG—Messenger Of God’ to release the film on Friday. It is noteworthy, that the board earlier decided to refer the decision related to clearance to the film in question to the FCAT. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, said Samson resigning from post was her personal decision and there was no coercion by the government.
