Shah Rukh Khan honoured with Yash Chopra Award

The king of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan was honoured with the prestigious 4th National Yash Chopra Memorial Award in Mumbai on Saturday evening.

The actor received the award from Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao, while the veteran actress Rekha made him wear a gold bracelet. Shahrukh was also awarded Rs 10 lakh.

The award has been instituted by the philanthropist T. Subbarami Reddy, in association with Anu Ranjan (President, The Indian Television Academy) and Shashi Ranjan (chairman and managing director of ITA School of Performing Arts), in the memory of the late filmmaker Yash Chopra.

Shah Rukh is the fourth recipient of the award, which is given to a Bollywood personality for his outstanding contribution to cinema.

Earlier actors like Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar and Rekha has received the Yash Chopra Memorial Award.

In his acceptance of the award, Shahrukh calls it as the ‘biggest honour’ of his life. Remembering his memories, Shahrukh said that it was a very special moment for him to receive the award in the memory of legendary Yash Chopra who has been a father-figure to him.

He had worked with the director-producer in many films, which include Darr, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Veer-Zara and Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
