3rd Librarians’ Development Programme held at KIIT, Bhubaneswar

The 3rd Librarians’ Development Programme (LOP) was held in KIIT University on 5 June, 2015. Chief Guest of the inaugural session, Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar, KIIT University, emphasized the role of libraries and librarians in augmenting the quality of teaching and research in academic institutions.

She also stressed that librarians should play a proactive role in identifying and meeting the information needs and seeking behavior of the users’ community.

Library scientists of many reputed institutions from different parts of the country made vivid discussions on recent trends in librarianship. Veteran library scientists, Dr. H. Anil Kumar, IIM, Ahmadabad spoke on problems and prospects of University curriculum and research and stressed the need of librarians to support the process of teaching, learning, and research.

On this occasion, Dr. G. K. Manjunath, Tata Institute of Development Research, Professor Bulu Maharana, Sambalpur University, Professor R. K. Mohapatra, SMIT, Berhampur addressed on different facets of digital age librarianship. More than 200 participants from Odisha and outside the state attended this workshop.
