Art and Sketch Exhibition at Lalit Kala Academy Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Sep 10:  Around 200 works of K.G. Subramanyan are being displayed at an exhibition titled ‘’Sketches, Scribbles, Drawings’ at Lalit Kala Academy here. Many people visiting this exhibition and appreciating the work of artist and scholar K.G. Subramanyan. For the first time such exhibition is being organized in Bhubaneswar featuring the works of Subramanyam.

The exhibition was inaugurated by senior artists Sri Jaysdev Maharana, Ganjapa painter and Sri Dharma Maharana, Jatripati painter from Raghurajpur, Puri on September 7. And, it was jointly organized by Lalit Kala Academy, Bhubaneswar and Seagull Foundation for the Arts, Kolkata.

Dr. Falguni Ray (56), a consultant, plastic & reconstruction surgeon from Bhubaneswas, said to Odisha News Insight (ONI) that “painting is my hobby. I have come here for my experience and inspiration. I have also taken part in many exhibitions in Lalit kala Academy. Besides, medicine it is my passion when I get time. Lalitkala Academy invited me to visit this exhibition and I was excited to come”.

Bikash Pradhan (23), student of Government College of Art and Craft – Khallikote, said “when I knew about this exhibition; I came to see this. I am a student of art and I am a art lover. I have also done many arts and sketches and joined in many exhibitions. K.G. Subramanyam is an eminent artist. I saw here different sketches like Maa Durga and animals, sketches relating to shanti niketan.I am very happy to see it”.

Priyaranjan Kanungo (65), said “my father Gopal Kanungo is a renowned artist. I was going to every place with my father to watch this type of exhibition since childhood and it became my hobby.I was also doing sketches during my school times. I have come from Puri to only watch this exhibition.”

Rajesh kumar Behera (25), “now I am in charge of selling books of K.G. Subramanyan. People are coming here to buy books those who are interested in arts and sketches. Books cost start from 10 rupees to 2300 rupees”.

“There are about 214 sketches, scribbles and drawings of K.G. Subramanyan have been displayed in this exhibition. This is a very rare opportunity for the students, artists, art lovers of Odisha to view this type of exhibition. This is the first time in Bhubaneswar. We are with collaboration of Seagull Foundation”, Sri Ramkrishna Vedala said to ONI.

A film on K.G. Subramanian is screening everyday in the Lalit Kala Academy region gallery. The exhibition will be concluded on September 11 (Friday). Sri Ramkrishna Vedala has requested to avail this rare opportunity to witness the works of K.G.Subramanyan.
