This helps immensely in instilling confidence in them in operating Airport Fire Service equipments; understanding the operating limits of the appliances and developing an effective teamwork whenever required during an emergency situation at the airport.
In view of this, an airport familiarization & joint exercise was conducted at Bhubaneswar Airport for the selected group of State Fire service personnel on 17.04.2015. This was a half-day exercise covering the familiarisation with the airport facilities, operations of the Airport Fire Service, handling of appliances, rescue and fire fighting procedures, building fire protection system, etc.
Sh. N. Jena, Asst. Station Officer, Odisha Fire Service, who was present for the exercise with a group of fire personnel, said that this was a new experience for them and they have gained insight into the new technology appliances and techniques which are applied in aviation rescue and fire fighting.
Sh. Sharad Kumar, Airport Director, was pleased with the entire exercise and expressed his satisfaction and gratitude towards the OFS for their continued help and participation with AAI & emphasised on more such joint exercises so as to deal efficiently with the emergency situations.
