BPIA-Bhubaneswar bags Meritorious Performance Award

Bhubaneswar, Dec 15: Biju Patnaik International Airport receives Meritorious Performance Awards on the National Conservancy Day, Govt of Odisha and Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India have jointly awarded Airports Authority of India –Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar for Meritorious Performance Award 2015 for the several measures taken by Airports Authority of India towards Energy Conversations.

The award was received by Sh. Sharad Kumar, Airport Director and his team of  Sh. Debashis Sahoo, JGM(E-E), Shri Loknath Padhy, JGM(E-C) and Sh. Sufi Sahidullah, SM(E-E).

Biju Patnaik International Airport has always taken progressive steps towards Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation.  100 kw solar power plant is already in operations and taxi way lights has been changed from conventional lights to LED based lights to save energy.

The terminal building is designed with several north light windows providing natural light whole day thereby reducing the requirement of artificial lighting,  this saves lot of energy as well users feel comfortable in the natural light. One 5 MW solar power plant is also likely to be established next year which will meet all energy requirement of the Airport by using clean energy. AAI has thanked of his stake-holders in supporting the Energy Conservation methods in operation of this airport.
