The contest in its 41st year running received an overwhelming response from the school-students fraternity with more than 75 lakh participants. This edition of the contest was conceptualized to traverse across borders to new geographies thereby including schools from countries like USA, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal with the help of digital media. With a focus on inclusive participation the contest evoked response from the untapped student base of standards 11th and 12th from the schools, non-school institutions like art schools and students from non-participating schools as well. Taking a step ahead, Kokuyo Camlin tied up with Big Bazaar across the country thereby offering locations for conducting the contest at their outlets.
In the year 2011, with 4,850,271 participants, the contest has been already certified by Guinness World Records as the largest art competition in the world.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Saumitra Prasad, Chief Marketing Officer, Kokuyo Camlin Limited said, ‘We are extremely elated at the response generated by the Camel Art Contest and congratulate all the winners and also extend our thanks to those schools, parents, faculties who supported this initiative. This year apart from seeking entries from countries other than India we focused on inclusive participation thereby generating responses from those schools / students who couldn’t have otherwise participated. This is our small way of encouraging the hidden talents of kids and giving them a platform to exhibit their artistic skills.”
Entries for ‘Camel Art Contest’ were judged on Primary, Zonal and Grand Finale levels across six categories – Group A (Pre Primary), Group B (Class 1 and 2), Group C (Class 3and 4), Group D (Class 5, 6 ) ,Group E (Class 7,8, 9) and Group F ( Class 10,11,12) .

This year, Kokuyo Camlin introduced a new category of Awards called the ‘Online Awards’,where students globally painted and posted their respective paintings online, post which there was a voting process that took place to choose the winner. The winners in this category are:

Kokuyo Camlin introduced an innovative and novel prize for the first time – ‘Grand Prize – Great Gift’, under which the first prize winners at Grand Finale level will be able to give a grant of Rs.50,000/- to augment the art infrastructure in their school. The school would be able to procure art infrastructure as per their requirement with this budget of Rs.50,000/- on the sponsorship of Kokuyo Camlin. The art infrastructure procured under this scheme would bear the name of the winner making one remembered for years to come, inspiring the coming generation of students for art and Camel Art Contest.
