ODSM celebrates 4th Foundation Day in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Sep 26: The 4th Foundation Day of Odisha Durneeti Sangharsa Mancha (ODSM) was celebrated at Red Cross Bhavan, here today. In the forenoon session a seminar was organized on ‘Mineral Wealth of Odisha & its proper Utilization.’

Sri Baisnab Charana Parida, MP Rajya Sabha graced the occasion as chief guest and Dr. Surendra Kumar Sarangi, MD Geomin Consultants Pvt. Ltd, Sri Rabi Das, Senior Journalist, Er BS Pani from Scan Resource Management and Sri Ramesh Chandra Mohapatra, President of Utkal Chambers attended as Guest of Honour. Er Ashok Rath, Vice Chairman ODSM and ex-Excutive Director of Nalco delivered key note address on the subject.

In his inaugural speech, Baisnab Charana Parida has opined that the main source of income of Odisha is from mining, hence its proper management and transparency is essential.  Dr. S K Sarangi spoke on the present scenario of minerals, its exploration and status. Sri Rabi Das narrated about corruption involved in mining business in recent days. Er B S Pani in his speech focused on various minerals in industry and their future scope.

At the beginning of the program Sri Umacharan Mishra, Chairman ODSM (retired district judge) said that the recent days mining sector faced severe corruption charges leading to huge loss to the state exchequer and sent a message to the people of the state to join ODSM and strengthen the movement against corruption.

Highlighting the progress of various activities against corruption undertaken last year by the organisation , the General Secretary Er J B Sarangi said that till now various minerals of the state are not being utilized in a proper way for value added production in the state.

On the occasion, a Colourfull Souvenir –“SANGHARSA-2015” was inaugurated by the guests. The program was anchored by Er Subrant Tripathy (Secy ODSM). Sudhir Mohanty (Advocate) secretary ODSM delivered vote of thanks.
