Red Cross organises Dengue Awareness Campaign in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Sep 26: Providing Health & Care service is one of the core areas of the Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch (IRCS-OSB). Looking at the prevailing situation of Dengue in all over Odisha, Red Cross Odisha State branch had oragnised an awareness campaign on Dengue with the support of its members & volunteers.

In the morning at 9.30 a.m. BJD spokesperson Sri Amar Prasad Satpathy inaugurated the programme as Chief Guest.  A Human Chain was formed by Red Cross members, Junior & Youth Red Cross volunteers, Counsellors in front of Red Cross Bhavan, Unit – IX, Bhubaneswar to disseminate information regarding the causes and remedies of Dengue to the public by holding placards, displaying posters and raises slogans. Besides, leaflets on Dengue were also distributed to the by passers.

Further, a meeting was organized at Red Cross Bhavan at 11 a.m.  Sri Amar Prasad Satpathy aware the participants regarding dengue fever, its spread, symptoms, treatment and prevention. Dr. Chakradhar Panda explained to the participants on dengue-associated risks and precautionary measures through the use of exhibits, educational materials and collaterals.

More than 350 Junior Red Cross & Youth Red Cross volunteers from different Schools, Colleges & Technical Colleges of Bhubaneswar, Life Members and Staffs of Red Cross participated in the programme.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Chakradhar Panda, Honorary Secretary, IRCS-OSB and supported by Sri Govinda Chandra Mahunta, Honorary Joint Secretary. Smt. Gourimani Biswal, Jr. Asst. assisted in the programme.
