Utkal Alumina Launches Garment Manufacturing Unit

With an objective of making the unemployed rural women self-sufficient and enabling them to earn a sustainable livelihood amount through Garment Production, the Aditya Birla Group Company Utkal Alumina has opened a Garment Manufacturing Unit at Tikiri in the district of Rayagada. Mr. VineetKaul, the Chief People Officer, HINDALCO and Mr. Vijay Sapra, Unit Head & President jointly inaugurated the Project on 12th February, 2015 at 5.00 p.m. in the presence of Mr. Umesh Hota, President – HR and Mr. N.Nagesh, Joint President (Projects). Members of Displaced families /Projected Affected People Committee, local PRI members and other dignitaries from local community have also participated in this programme.

The Company has already imparted tailoring training to 60 Women from the underprivileged class of Society in it’s periphery.  Out of the said 60 women, 30 Women came forward to get them inducted into this Advanced Training cum Garments Manufacturing Project to enhance their skills and to earn livelihood for them. Around Rs 33 lakhs have been invested for the said project.

The Project is being implemented in association with the Company’s CSR Channel partner, M/s. Renaissance Strategic Management Services, Bhubaneswar and the market linkage would be with Fab India, Boyanika and similar large scale garment manufacturing Units. The Project is located at the Company’s Residential Campus at Tikiri. The Product portfolio of this Project includes, Women’s wear: Tops, Kurtis,  Chudidar, Salwar Kameez, Skirts, School Uniforms, &Institutional Uniforms etc.( for Hotels, Hospitals and Industries).
