Vedanta starts Rural BPO Centre at Lanjigarh, Odisha

On the launching of Rural BPO at Lanjigarh, Mr K.K.Dave, COO, Vedanta Ltd attended as Chief Guest and inaugurated the centre in the presence of other dignitaries like Mr Amit Joshi-Head HR, Mr Rabi Kumar-FIDR. The project will be the first of its kind in Odisha (Except eastern region) and would mark the entry of Information Technology enabled Services (ITeS) in the region.

Mr Dave on his speech says” As a responsible Corporate we have started RBPO is this region which will be able to create a platform to avail the opportunity and helpful to eradicate poverty from the region. This will be helpful for PM’s Vision Digital India Concept.”

Setting another step forward in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for the rural youths of Lanjigarh and periphery blocks this centre started with1st batch of 15 youths. It is an endeavour to create economic independence through meaningful employment for the youth of Lanjigarh where will be provided customized training. Basically FIDR will be monitoring the training part. The students will be provided free training on Computer & other Communication with a stipend support for three months. Each batch runs for 3 months. Later looking to the interest of youths the batches will be increased.

This programme aims to be a catalyst for social change and community development by creating jobs for local youth, especially for women.
