NGT urges Report from Odisha Govt on Elephant Corridors

The National Green Tribunal on Thursday sought a report from the Odisha government on elephant corridors as well as the list of encroachers of forest land in the State.

The Agency also directed the State government to file the status report along with the list of encroachers before the Tribunal by 20th of October.

Notably, the Odisha government had spent more than 20 crore rupees during the last five years on management and habitat improvement of 14 elephant corridors.

However, there has been no issuance of notification by the State on elephant corridors since 2012.
