UK Pharma AstraZeneca Puts On Hold COVID Vaccine Trial After Volunteer’s Illness

UK Pharma Company AstraZeneca has put on hold COVID Vaccine trial after one of its volunteers fell ill. AstraZeneca is one of the frontrunners in developing COVID vaccine along with University of Oxford.

“As part of the ongoing randomized, controlled global trials of the Oxford coronavirus vaccine, our standard review process was triggered and we voluntarily paused vaccination to allow review of safety data by an independent committee,” a spokesperson of the pharma company was quoted saying.

The nature and severity of the volunteer’s illness is not yet known.

AstraZeneca is in its last stage Phase-3 vaccine trials, which began in August.
