Union Minister Prahlad Patel Withdraws NMA draft heritage bylaws for Puri Jagannath Temple

After drawing flak from servitors, locals and politicians, Union Culture Minister Prahlad Jodhi announced withdrawal of National Monument Authority’s draft heritage bylaws for Puri Jagannath Temple.

The decision was taken after a delegation of BJD MPs met with the Minister. Earlier BJP MPs Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sarangi had also met the Minister on the issue.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who visited the Puri Jagannath Temple had also raised objections on the bylaws.

“No body can stop the work of Lord Jagannath. The Central Government should withdraw the by law notification,” the Chief Minister said after the visit.
