Beef Exports from Bangladesh decline, as India toughens Stand

In a massive crackdown, the BSF has seized 90,000 cattle and arrested 400 Indians and Bangladesh smugglers so far in 2015. Bangladeshi beef exporters, who export beef to Gulf countries and other nations, had to cut their orders by 75 per cent or so. Prices of cows have gone up by 40 percent over the past six months due to a tough stand taken by India on the border.

At least 30 out of of 190 tanneries in Bangladesh had suspended work due to lack of hides, and about 4,000 workers were rendered jobless.
