Modi pays tributes to Netaji Subhas Bose; renames 3 Andaman & Nicobar Islands

ONI Bureau:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi renamed three islands in Andamans and Nicobar Islands during his visit on Sunday.

While, the Ross Island was renamed as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep, the Neil Island was renamed as Shaheed Dweep and the Havelock Island as Swaraj Dweep.

PM Modi inaugurated an Industrial Training Institute at Arong and laid the foundation stone for several infrastructure projects to mark the 75th anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose’s formation of the Azad Hind government in 1943.

During a speech in Port Blair, the PM announced setting up of a University after Netaji. Modi also unfurled 150 feet high Flag Mast at South Point, Port Blair.

Worth mentioning, in 1943 Netaji Bose unfurled the Tricolour in Andaman and Nicobar islands.
