Quota Bill clears Parliament Test in just 48 Hours

ONI Bureau:  It was a big victory for the Modi Govt as the most sought-after bill passed just in 48 hours.

The Winter Session of the Parliament extended by a day as Govt mulled to provide 10% reservation in jobs and educational institutions to the economically weaker sections in the general category.

It was moved in the Lok Sabha on January 7 and was passed too. Rajya Sabha sitting extended to a day to give a smooth passage to the bill, which was passed by the upper house last night. While, 165 MPs voted in favour of the bill while 7 voted against of it.

While, BJP, Congress, TMC, BJD, JD(U), SP, BSP, LJP, NCP and many others voted in favour of the Quota Bill in Rajya Sabha, RJD, AIADMK opposed it. Some other parties members including CPI, CPM, AAP abstained from voting.
