BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has dropped a bomb-shell today by producing some documents, which showed Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi as a British National. As expected, Congress has denied the claims.
According to Swamy and independent investigation conducted by NDTV and others, Rahul Gandhi was named as a Director in UK-based company, Backops Ltd. Another American was also the Director in the company. The company was incorporated in 2003. Rahul was listed as an Indian National.
However, in the annual returns filed in 2005 and 2006, Rahul Gandhi is mentioned as a British National. Congress has called this a typographical error, while the BJP has sought a probe into the allegations. The company shut down its operation in 2009.
Swamy had written a letter to PM Modi, requesting the PM to strip Rahul of his Indian citizenship as well as cancel his Lok Sabha membership.
