When India became the 4th country in the world after England, Australia and West Indies to play 500th Test, a lot was expected. And, Kohli & Co. did not disappoint. They dominated the proceedings from Day 1 and completed the formality with a comprehensive victory on the last day. The 197-run victory in Kanpur Test, was India’s 130th win in the 500th Test match and 19th win against the New Zealand.
While Vijay and Pujara batted sensibly in both innings with successive fifties, Rohit Sharma too bated well with 35 and 68*, hinting that he regained his lost form. Ravindra Jadeja justified the role of an all-rounder with the bat and ball. And, Ashwin tore into New Zealand batting line up by claiming 10 wickets in the match. Kohli did not score, but led the team to a great victory and dedicated the win to the martyrs of Uri attacks. The win helped India regain No. 1 rank in ICC Test rankings too. Well done, Boys!
