ONI Bureau: The Jio Institute has been declared an ‘Institution of Eminence’, at par with IIT Delhi, IISC Bangalore, BIT Pilani etc although it’s yet to be set up.
Jio Institute was selected under the ‘Greenfield’ category. It competed with 10 other institutions such as Airtel Bharti University & Vedanta University which are yet to set up.
Jio University won’t get funds from the Govt as reported in social media. The Rs 1000 crore fund is meant for only public institutions, not private ones.
The Govt is encouraging private universities to improve the standards of education and find a place among top 500 Institutions of global rankings.
