SC grants no relief to Activists in Bhima-Koregaon case

ONI Bureau:  The Supreme Court on Friday refused to interfere in the arrest of five activists Varavara Rao, Arun Ferreira, Vernon Gonsalves, Sudha Bharadwaj and Gautam Navlakha in Bhima-Koregaon case.

The three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra, refused to constitute SIT & also asked Pune Police to go ahead with the probe. However, the Court extended house arrest of five activists for four weeks.

On, August 29, the Apex Court directed that the five human rights activists will be kept under house arrest till September 5 and it had reserved its judgment on September 20.

Worth mentioning, five activists were earlier arrested for having close Maoist links after they allegedly made speeches at a event, that triggered violence at Bhima-Koregaon village.
