SC refuses to interfere in deportation of 7 Rohingya Refugees to Myanmar

ONI Bureau:  This will be for the first time that Rohingya immigrants would be sent back to Myanmar from India as the Supreme Court on Thursday refused to interfere in Centre’s decision to deport seven Rohingya refugees to Myanmar.

A plea was filed in the Apex Court on Wednesday for urgent hearing seeking restraint on Centre from deporting the 7 Rohingyas to Myanmar.

However, Centre told Supreme Court today that Myanmar has accepted the Rohingyas as their citizens and has agreed to take them back.

It is to be noted that the illegal immigrants have been staying in the Silchar Detention centre in Assam, since 2012.
