In a tragic incident in Haridabandh village under Odagaon police limits in Nayagarh, 11 houses were completely burnt and reduced to mere ashes, and two cows charred to death in a massive fire which broke out last night.
It is believed that fire caught in one of the houses while all were asleep which later spread to the adjacent houses. It was too late by the time the family realised about the break out and by then the flames had already engulfed the cattle.
Villagers took effort on their own to stop the fire but the fire had already consumed two cows and injured four persons. On being informed, fire fighters rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control.
Though the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, an electric short circuit is suspected to be the reason behind it.
