11 Pesticide Companies banned in Odisha

Insight Bureau: In the wake of recent pest menace in various districts of the state, the Odisha Government has cracked the whip and banned 11 pesticide companies from selling their products.

Agriculture Principal Secretary Dr Saurabh Garg confirmed this and said that ‘no sale’ notice has been issued to those companies on the basis oc laboratory test report.

Pest menace has gripped the state, forcing at least 8 farmers to commit suicide over crop loss owing to pest attack. 1.78 lakh hectares of paddy fields in 9 districts of Western Odisha suffered massive damage.
