12-hour Bandh in Western Odisha over separate Koshal State demand

ONI Bureau:  The Kosal State Coordination Committee has called for a 12-hour bandh on Monday in 11 districts of Western Odisha, as part of its long standing demand for formation of a separate Koshal State.

The Committee has called for bandh in Bargarh, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Boudh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sundergarh, Sonepur and Angul.

Various associations including district lawyers’ associations, traders’ associations, district journalists’ associations and various youth organisations extended their support for the bandh.

While educational institutions, offices, post offices, banks and shops remained closed in these areas, vehicular movement was disrupted at many places in view of the bandh today.

However, emergency health services and train services have been excluded from the protest.
