ONI Bureau: Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi has asked the Collectors in Mahanadi river system to remain alert as 25 sluice gates of Mahanadi dam will be opened by today evening to flush out excess water as precautionary measure.
Curently water is being released through 20 sluice gates of Hirakud Dam. However, water level in Hiakud reservoir is about 1.34,727 feet.
Sethi also asked Sambalpur Collector to remain alert and take precautionary action. As per report, 8 lakh cusec water will pass Munduli by August 30 morning.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), Fire Services Department officials were asked to remain alert.
