ONI Bureau: Three Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidates Prasanta Nanda, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and Achyuta Samanta get elected uncontested to the Rajya Sabha from Odisha, informed Returning Officer Rajesh Prabhakar Patil on Thursday.
The nomination papers of independent candidate Subash Mohapatra was earlier rejected due to lack of proposers in support of him.
The last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 15 (today) while the polling and counting are scheduled to be held on March 23.
Worth mentioning, the three Rajya Sabha seats will fall vacant as the tenure of AU Singhdeo, Dilip Tirkey and AV Swami is ending on April 2.
