The team is on three-day visit to Malkangiri district. Behera along with team members visited the spot and reviewed the construction work here. This is the first visit of the development commissioner after taking special charge of Malkangiri district.
In order to carry out development work in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected four districts- Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Malkangiri in the state, Odisha government has appointed four IAS officer including Behera with special responsibilities.
It is noteworthy that, the LWE has been losing its base in Malkangiri district following Maoist and their supporters joining main stream recently. The construction of the bridge in the district would further improve the connectivity to remote areas, which would be useful to suppress naxalism in the district. Police have been providing security to the construction worker of the bride the Maoist affected district.
