ONI Bureau: At least five Maoists, including two women cadres, were killed in a gun battle with security forces in Malkangiri area on Monday.
The gunfight began on Sunday evening in a forest area near Papluru in Malkangiri district where the security personnel spotted a group of Maoists in the jungle.
It is suspected that Kalimela Dalam Division of CPI (Maoist) leader Ranadeb, who was present at the spot, escaped from the spot.
The security personnel recovered INSAS rifles, SLR, 303 rifle and a hand grenade from the spot.
