61 lives lost in Cyclone Titli-related incidents, confirms Odisha Chief Secy

ONI Bureau:  After reviewing the relief and restoration works in Cyclone Titli-affected districts, Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today said the death toll in the very severe cyclonic storm Titli and subsequent flooding in the state raised to 61 while 11 deaths, including that of 3 Andhra fishermen, are being examined and are yet to be confirmed.

Padhi also informed that except the Sorada-Daringbadi road all road restoration work is almost completed. Likewise, 100% power has been restored in all the districts except Gajapati.

Meantime, drinking water restoration has been completed in urban areas while 570 water supply has been restored in rural areas and rest are in progress.

Though assessment of Rs 2,770 crores of fund requirements has been submitted, state government has sought a financial assistance of Rs 2014 crore from the Centre towards cyclone relief, added the Chief Secretary.
