The 12-hour bharat bandh call given by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) saw significant impact in Odisha. Several markets and business establishments downed their shutters to support the bandh call. Vehicles also remained off the roads in several parts of the state.
However, emergency and essential services continue to function.
The traders called for Bharat Bandh to protest against several issues including rising fuel prices and Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The bandh call has got support from All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA). Close to 40,000 traders across India are supporting the bandh.
