Bhubaneswar and Major Cities of Odisha to be fully Wi-Fi Enabled by 2016

The Odisha Government has decided to make Bhubaneswar and all major cities of the state Wi-Fi enabled by 2016. In addition, a modern data centre will be set up at Infovalley-II. The above decision were taken at a high-level meeting taken by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The IT Department of the Odisha Government has also planned to set up BPO units in rural areas of the state. The government will offer subsidies to create BPO units. At the first place, existing STPI stations such as Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Rourkela and Berhampur will have the BPO seats in adjoining rural areas. Each STPI station will have 5,000-10,000 seats.

As planned earlier, Odisha will have 6 more STPI stations at – Angul, Sambalpur, Jeypore, Jajpur, Bhawanipatna and Rayagada. A proposal has already been submitted to the Centre in this regard and the STPI had recently visited Jeypore and selected the location.
