Veteran Odia Actor Bijay Mohanty joins Bhasha Andolan on Day 8

On the eighth day of Bhasha Andolan, veteran Odia Actor and former Principal of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Bijay Mohanty and Senior Journalist Sriram Dash joined the ‘silent black flag march’ from Odisha Assembly to Madhu Babu’s statue at the Governor’s House square.

They were joined by Columnist and Agami Odisha President Sudarshan Das and Professor Niranjan Padhi. These four eminent personalities started their march at 5 PM and walked 1.5 km to reach Madhu Babu’s statue, where there were greeted by other members and supporters of Bhasha Andolan.

While talking to reporters, Bijay Mohanty said that the government must listen to the voice of Odias and make necessary arrangements to ensure governance of Odisha in Odia language. “This is a just demand of the people for long. If these voices are not heard, the movement will take a bigger shape in the coming days”, he said.

Apart from Subhas Chandra Pattanayak, Pradyumna Satpathy, Tusarkanta Satpathy and Pabitra Maharatha of Bhasha Andolan, many other intellectuals and eminent personalities such as Rajyavardhan Jena, Pabitra Mohan Samal, Dr. Ashok Mishra, Subhas Chandra Pradhan, Banoj Tripathy, Maneka Kinnar, Khageswar Bal, Priyanath Dhachani, Madhumita Samal, Biranchi Narayana, Sameer Kumar Sahu, Siba Prasad Patnaik, Sumanta Muduli, Bhakti Bhushan Mohapatra, Prashant Kumar Behera, Commander Nand Kishore Samal, Biranchi Moharana etc. were present at the occasion.
