A boy set ablaze a girl after being rejected. The girl and boy, students of a private engineering college in Semiliguda area were classmates.
According to reports, the accused had proposed the girl on numerous occasions but the girl had rejected his proposal every time. But this time the accused enraged by the rejection followed by a verbal clash, lost temper and poured petrol on the girl, and set her ablaze.
The accused has been identified as Gopinath Khora.
The girl sustained 50 per cent grievous burn injuries and was initially admitted to Koraput DHH and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur before being shifted to admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment. But the condition of the girl deteriorated and she succumbed to the injuries today in the hospital.
A probe into the matter has been initiated and investigation is underway.
