Candidates file nomination papers for Students’ Union Polls in Odisha

ONI Bureau:  The candidates have filed their nomination papers for the students’ union elections in various colleges and universities across the state on Wednesday for the upcoming polls scheduled to be held on October 11.

As per Lyngdoh Committee norms, the candidates filed their nomination papers between 9 am and 12 noon on Wednesday.

Verification of the nomination papers will be taken place between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm today however; the list of eligible candidates will be released on October 4.

The students’ union election has been cancelled in Ravenshaw University in Cuttack, Sambalpur University, Madhusudan Law College in Cuttack, Kusaleswar Regional Degree College in Keonjhar, Dhamnagr College in Bhadrak, Nilgiri College in Balasore, Mangala College in Kakatpur of Puri district following student unrest in the campus of the Universities.

Similarly, Authorities of Deogarh College, Anandpur Kanaka Manjari Women’s College and Anantapur Saraswat College in Balasore cancel students’ union elections citing student unrest on the campus.
